Hi- I never thought I would be living in my own apartment. I always thought I would have to stay at home with my parents. But all that changed when my family moved back to Minnesota. Minnesota has many programs to support independent living and so I began the journey to getting my own place to live. Inw live in my own apartment and I have to have PCA (Personal Care Assistance) and and other help to get along. After 2 years of going through many bad PCAs and bad PCA providers, my family decided to create their own provider business and introduced a model of service that gets me the help I need, the way I want it and helps me to retain high quality PCAs for longer.
Choice Healthcare of Minnesota is the name of our company. We are able to pay better for our PCAs beccause our administrative cost stay low. Each client has a plan for what activities the PCA needs to do for them and how they like their cares to be done. When a new PCA starts they have 2 weeks to get trained, then they are evaluated and if they are good, they get a pay increase.
We are always willing to share our care model with current PCA providers should they have an interest in improving their services. Or if you are disabled and would like more information on how to improve your quality of life and get good PCAs let me know and I will get you more information.
I would be interested in hearing how you manage your PCA needs and ideas you have for making this process easier. PCAs out there I would like to hear from you too!
Future blogs will be about things I like and know about that you might like to.
